After approximately 10 years of
thinking about it, the scene was finally set for the
Reunion of the 1980 5th Year at Ruislip Golf Club on 22nd
June. |

|

| Then the hoards started
arriving....."someones put on some
weight?", "whos lost all their hair
then?", "still fancy him?"....were just
some of the comments heard and that was just between Dave
Josey and Nigel Harris. The evening started with discussions about our academic performance and the relative state of the economy since we left school, but luckily after 5 minutes that degenerated into the discussion points that you would have hoped at a school reunion based around who gate crashed whos 16th Birthday party, who went out with who, smoking groups behind the bike sheds and the "best playground fights that can be remembered".! |
||||||||||||||||
| Then the photos came out (well done to the
organised girlies who could be relied on to bring them
along), and the general conclusion was that everyone has
in fact improved with age (despite reducing hairlines and
increasing waistlines- just the boys of course!) The evening moved along nicely, and inevitably Beck and Maynard found themselves on the Karaoke singing along to Baggy Trousers, and reminding everyone why we had no success in the music business. |
||||||||||||||||
| We were followed by the other brave soul
Guy Horchover who suitable massacred something like a
John Denver song (it was difficult to tell) Special mentions could go to John Hawley in his capacity as professional reunion attendee who represented the teaching fraternity admirably (good to see you John), Nick Goodman who is sickeningly good looking still (despite his advancing years), Professor Phil Gorman who drove down from deepest Worcestershire (I think) seemingly with his head out of the window all the way and Hamish (Jamie) Blackman for just being there. |

| If anyone wanted reminding of how many
years have moved on since we left school, a further
special mention for "Dad of the Night" should
be made to Neil Copling who was being driven home by his
daughter, except she managed to lock her key in her car,
and simply joined in the party with us. National Statistics show apparently that in any group of 47 well educated people, there will be at least one millionaire. Anybody who hoped that the entire bar tab would be picked up by any successful millionaires in the room had their hopes dashed, however more than enough alcohol was consumed to do our evening proud. This continued, as in true "school party" fashion, no-one wanted to go home so we all ferried down to the Master Brewer where few of the girlies (those with the foresight to know from experience that they would never make it home that night) were staying. Once there, we managed to run the night porter ragged for a couple of hours as the drinking continued in the foyer. Having been evicted from the foyer in the early hours of the morning, by a stroke of luck Annette and Caroline found a vacant conference room, complete with overhead projector and other useful party objects, so that the session could continue!! . |

| If you were there.....youll know you
enjoyed the night. If you wanted to but were unable to make it......you missed a great night. If you simply failed to show......bad luck, youll have to catch the photos to see who was there and join us next time. Look out for the next reunion in 200???????? and make sure you are there.
